Early Years

The school places great emphasis on the achievement of the objectives of Basic School Education stated in the National Policy on education.

Integrated curriculum is applied in this section; Nigerian, British and Canadian methods with Montessori system of education as it lays a solid foundation for children age 0-5years.

The learning approach is child centred; learners are given opportunity to explore their environment. They develop and refine their abilities to think critically and collaboratively, precisely the abilities most needed to achieve success and satisfaction in the 21st century.

As a school, we have extended the Kindergarten approach to learning by introduction of play, to enable children to imagine and create interactive inventions. The process of play and the skills children practice while playing are extremely important. In addition, when children learn early that learning is fun, they carry this enjoyment through their academic journey. Each day begins with a circle time to prepare children for exciting activities for the day.

Our care givers/ Educators know each child and currently assess needs, ability, interest and learning styles in order to provide optimum learning environment. The child learns to become an effective learner as he/she develops and extend his/her communication skills and build his/herself confidence.

The early years is divided into four levels

Level 1: Creche(3months-1 year)

Pre- School ( 2 years)

Level 2: Pre Kindergarten (3 Years)

Level 3: Lower Kindergarten (4 years)

Level 4: Upper Kindergarten (5 Years)

  • Phonemic awareness

The homelike quality of our school contributes to a relaxed, focused experience for the child. Our indoor classroom activities are placed on open shelves for selection as interest and readiness inspires the child. Our outdoor environment offers a beautiful developed playground with manipulatives, tricycles, pets, and gardens. The child has one intuitive aim: self development. He desperately wants to develop his resources, his ability to cope with a strange, complex world. He wants to do and see and learn for himself through his senses and not through the eyes of an adult. He becomes a full person. He is educated.”
